Nonwoven or plastic sheet to protect hay?

The choice between nonwoven or plastic sheet can affect forage quality. Traditional plastic sheets often have limitations in terms of breathability and weather resistance, while FLORTEX® 55/160 offers an alternative structure for covering hay.

The images show that the FLORTEX® 55/160 nonwoven fabric keeps bales dry and reduces the risk of mould formation. Its breathable structure, combined with a 60° laying slope, helps water run off and prevents pooling on the surface of the sheet.

Why choose the nonwoven fabric

The comparison between nonwoven or plastic sheet highlights concrete differences in hay management: lower risk of mould, longer life of the covering sheet and less time spent checking the bales.

1. Bale in good condition, dry FLORTEX® 55/160 breathable nonwoven fabric
2. Dry and clean hay, free of mould, covered with FLORTEX® 55/160
3. Plastic sheet torn by wind and rain
4. Wet plastic sheet
5. Damp hay
6. Mouldy hay
